1961 Andrews Slipper Launch
Offered for sale is Lady of Iona, an extremely rare and well-preserved 25-foot Andrews Slipper Launch, originally built in 1961 by J. Andrews & Son in Bourne End, England. She is hull number 451 and notably the final example in a run of just seven 25-foot launches produced that year — making her a highly desirable piece from this iconic builder.
The boat underwent a full professional restoration in 2003 by Trevor Green & Co. in Henley-on-Thames. This work included a new Iroko bottom, chine repairs, new hull sides, updated hatch framing, and a beautifully finished deck featuring alternating African and Brazilian mahogany. In 2017, she received another round of updates in Muskoka by James Osler Classic Boat Restoration, along with a full rebuild of her original Austin Vedette 4-cylinder engine, completed by Matt Fairbrass of Whiteside Mechanical.
The cockpit is finished exactly how you’d want to see a boat like this — four classic Lloyd Loom wicker chairs, clean recessed lighting, updated wiring, and exceptional high-gloss varnish throughout. She also features traditional gold-leaf lettering and cove lines, all done to a very high standard.
Since arriving in Canada in 2003, Lady of Iona has been kept in a covered boathouse in Muskoka and stored on a lift out of the water, which has played a huge role in her overall condition today. She has also been a regular at the Antique and Classic Boat Society Toronto Chapter Muskoka Show, where she’s received multiple awards — including 1st Place Platinum in the Classic Inboard category (2025). She was also recently featured in an ACBS publication recognizing standout classic boats.
The boat is being sold with a custom-built trailer, and loading can be arranged in the spring. There is a full file of documentation available covering her history, restoration work, and provenance, which can be shared with serious buyers.
