The experienced Mariners Choice Yacht, another Brunswick success story during its decade-long production run, has long been recognized as a prestigious yacht in her class. Approximately 100 of these yachts got made and sold each year.

Ideal for the yachtsman seeking a well-appointed and popular diesel cruising yacht at a reasonable price, the 3888 Motor Yacht (known as the 3780 M/Y from 1983 to 1989) boasts a long list of impressive improvements. These include new Sunbrella canvas with a custom bridge enclosure, a custom bridge hardtop, and all-new vinyl in the bridge and salon. This yacht can be your waterfront floating condo at a fraction of the price of similar real estate.

Upon approaching, it’s immediately evident that this is a well-made, extremely well-cared-for, and upgraded example of the 3880 Motor Yacht. The exterior improvements include all-new canvas and crystal-clear isinglass windows Bridge and lower aft deck, as well as a unique but sharp-looking custom hardtop.

Access to the salon is granted by a sliding glass door partition on the lower aft deck, or by a port-side boarding ladder to the flying bridge. Above, there’s surrounded seating for seven people and the bridge helm station. The lower deck is large enough for a couple of folding chairs as well. New seats and waterproof covers are also included to protect against unexpected rain, and there are three portable seats for the upper bridge. 

The main salon has seating for 8, a half-moon dinette to the port side, directly across the lower helm station, perfect for dinner, card games, or just socializing indoors. This dinette grants its patrons a 360-degree view of their surroundings. Added mini blinds and forward sunscreen for the hot days that double to provide your floating condo 360-degree of privacy! This yacht has been completely reupholstered, with ultra-leather vinyl seating and all-new wall vinyl replaced throughout, giving this vessel a fresh, new and clean, modern feel. (Probably what she looked like in 1994.) A well-appointed galley can be found mid-ship forward and below the lower helm station. Water filters in the galley, convection oven, electric oven, double-door fridge/ freezer. Don’t forget the recently installed laminated water-resistant flooring throughout her main salon and galley area (for ease of cleaning). The key feature of the 3870/3888 was her innovative mid-cabin floor plan with a queen/king berth that extends under the salon sole. 2 heads and a bathtub.  There’s a surprisingly large master stateroom forward with a walk-around island berth and en suite head. * Note that there are two heads in this layout, one with a tub/shower stall. 

Built on a low-deadrise modified-V hull, paired with V-drives. A lower helm was standard in the salon. Diesel auxiliary heating, hot water engine heating, operating ice machine. 

Powered by the battle-proven and robust 210Hp Hino 4-Cylinder diesels. These economic diesels cruise around 17–18 knots, which makes the 3888 M/Y an extremely fuel-efficient boat.

About a thousand hulls were built over the 11 years.
